I've been making jewelry to celebrate motherhood since my early years at the bench, but I only had the honor of "joining the club" last year. It's been so much more magical and challenging and precious and bittersweet that I ever dreamed possible. As I reflect on the past year, my mind lingers on the quiet hours when I got to hold Fera in my arms, breath in the scent of her head, feed her, and be the safe place where she rests.
During Fera's time as a baby, I get to hold her literally, but I will hold her in all ways that I can for her whole life. Down the road, holding her may look like tending to her wounds when she crashes her bike, listening to her thoughts without judgement, or responding to a 3am phone call. My arms are open for holding always and forever.
